Automatic Brand Book Generation: From Domain to Brand Guidelines in Seconds
TL;DR: Datagum now generates brand books automatically when you create a project. Add your domain, and we extract your company name, tagline, value propositions, tone of voice, and target audience from your existing website. No forms. No questionnaires. Edit what we got wrong, keep what we got right.
Brand questionnaires are a time sink.
Every marketing tool wants you to fill out the same form. Company name. Tagline. "Describe your brand voice in 3 words." Target audience. Value propositions. Competitors.
You've written this stuff before. It's on your website. Why are you typing it again?
What We Built
When you create a project in Datagum, we now automatically generate a brand book from your domain. Here's what happens:
- You enter your domain (e.g.,
acme.com) - We scrape your homepage and key pages
- AI extracts your brand identity
- You get a complete brand book in seconds
No waiting. No forms. The brand book populates while you're still looking at the dashboard.
What Gets Extracted
We pull the pieces that actually matter for content optimization:
- Company name - The official name, not your domain
- Tagline - Your headline positioning
- Short description - What you do in one sentence
- Full description - The longer pitch
- Value propositions - Your key differentiators
- Target audience - Who you're selling to
- Tone of voice - How you sound (professional, casual, technical, friendly)
- Key terms - Industry jargon and product names you use
The extraction isn't magic. It's pattern matching against your existing copy. Your homepage headline becomes your tagline. Your "About" section becomes your description. Your features list becomes value propositions.
Why This Matters for AI Visibility
Brand books aren't just for style guides. They're context.
When we test your content against AI search engines, we need to know what queries matter to you. A SaaS company and an e-commerce store have different visibility goals even if they sell similar products.
Your brand book tells us:
- What terms should trigger citations to your site
- What audience you're trying to reach
- What positioning you're competing on
Better context means better test questions. Better test questions mean more actionable insights.
What If It's Wrong?
It will be sometimes. AI extraction isn't perfect.
Maybe your homepage is aspirational and doesn't reflect your actual product. Maybe your tagline is buried. Maybe you're pivoting and the website is stale.
That's fine. Everything is editable.
Click into your brand book after generation. Fix what's wrong. Add what's missing. The AI gave you a starting point, not a final answer.
Quick tip: If the extraction is way off, your website might be the problem. If AI can't figure out what you do from your homepage, neither can your visitors.
How to Use It
- Go to Projects in your Datagum dashboard
- Click New Project
- Enter your project name and domain
- Wait a few seconds
- Open your project and check the Brand Book section
That's it. No setup. No configuration.
If you need to regenerate (maybe you updated your website), hit the Regenerate button in the Brand Book section. We'll re-scrape and re-extract.
What's Next
Brand books are the foundation for smarter AI visibility testing. With your brand context, we can:
- Generate more relevant test questions
- Compare your visibility against competitors in your space
- Track whether AI search engines understand your positioning
We're building toward a world where monitoring your AI visibility is as simple as checking your Google Analytics. This is one step toward that.
